MidSouth Utility Consultants, LLC provides a dynamic work environment with the opportunity and responsibility to impact hundreds of thousands of people every day through comprehensive planning, design, testing, and construction contract administration services to rural electric cooperatives, municipal electric power systems, and large industries who have their own high voltage facilities.

1. Civil Engineer, PE

Candidates must be a licensed professional engineer with a BSCE, experience related to design or construction projects (preferably in the electric utility industry).

Duties will include:
• Project management, contract administration and construction inspection
• Job estimating and schedule development
• Labor and resource management
• Site grading and drainage plans
• Reinforced concrete foundation design
• Power line design, surveying, and staking
• Review of structural steel calculations
• Environmental planning
• Layout, design and specifications for substation construction
Preferred Skills:
• AutoCAD, MicroStation, ARCGIS, PLSCADD, Shaft3D
• MS Excel & MS Project
• Knowledge of construction methods and procedures

2. Electrical Engineer, PE

Candidates must be a licensed professional engineer with a BSEE, experience related to electrical design or construction projects (preferably in the electric utility industry).

Duties will include:

• Protective relay application and testing

• AutoCAD, ARCGIS, PLSCADD, MS Excel, MS Project
• SCADA, AMI, GIS, and CIS software for electric power systems
• NEC, NESC, and utility familiarity
• Computer/Relay programming knowledge

3. Electrical Engineer

Candidates must have a BSEE from an ABET accredited 4 year electrical engineering program and possess the understanding that rewards are the result of purposeful, hard work. Preference will be given to candidates who have passed the FE exam and who have experience in the electric utility industry.

Duties will include:
• Protective relay application, programming, and testing
• Electrical substation design and specifications
• SCADA, AMI, GIS, and CIS applications for electric power systems
Preferred Skills:
• AutoCAD, ARCGIS, PLSCADD, MS Excel, MS Project
• SCADA, AMI, GIS, and CIS software for electric power systems
• NEC, NESC, and utility familiarity
• Computer/Relay programming knowledge

4. Utility Rate Consultant

Candidates must have experience in utility rate design and accounting and possess the understanding that rewards are the result of purposeful, hard work. Preference will be given to candidates who have a BS in accounting or engineering and knowledge of either municipal or rural electric utility rates.

Duties will include:
• Cost of service studies
• Financial forecasts
• Utility rate design
• Net metering applications for consumer generation
• Public service commission filings and other regulatory activities
Preferred Skills:
• MS Excel, MS Project
• SCADA, AMI, GIS, and CIS software for electric power systems
• Utility accounting practices
